Mr. Crosby was born in Statesboro and was a 1961 graduate of Marvin Pittman High School. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and retired from the ITT Grinnell Corporation with 25 years of service, where he worked as a machine operator.
Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Mitch and Inez Allmond Crosby and his brothers, Allen Crosby and Harold Crosby.
Mr. Crosby is survived by his son, Douglas E. Crosby of Tennessee; daughter, Tracy Coxwell and her husband, Robert of Swainsboro; brothers, Franklin D. Crosby of North Carolina; Bobby Crosby and his wife, Doris Ann of Metter; Jimmy Crosby and his wife, Becky of Dublin and Tony Crosby and his wife, Ronda of Pembroke; sisters, Mary Ann Howell of Statesboro and Linda Rowton and her husband, Al of Benton, TN; grandchildren, Adam Butler and his wife, Amy of Wilmington Island; Trish Crosby of Macon, Owen Crosby of Tennessee and Sarah and Chase Coxwell of Swainsboro; three great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Linda Jane Crosby of Pooler and Diana Crosby of Metter; special cousins, Walter Lee Crosby and Francis A. Crosby both of Statesboro; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 1:00 to 3:00 PM Friday, April 8, 2016 in Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Friday, April 8, 2016 in the chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with Reverend Josh Black officiating.
Burial will follow in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Rusty Beasley, James Kight, Phillip Crosby, Clint Crosby, Walter Lee Crosby and Ronnie Cooper.
