Doris Brinson Wright went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 12, 2012. She was born 82 years ago in Brooklet, GA and was loved by many. Of those who loved her was her husband of 57 years, Dewel Charles who left this life on February 27th 2006. They are now rejoicing together again. Mrs. Wright and her whole family are known for their love of bluegrass music and for their annual bluegrass pickin’ party. She was affectionately known as “Mama Wright”.
Survivors include her son, Billy Wright and his wife Diane Wright, her son, Bobby Wright and his wife, Susan Wright, both of Brooklet, GA; and daughter. Belinda Allen and her husband, Gregg Allen of Atlanta; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; her brother, Clifford Irvin Brinson, and her sisters, Margaret Pittman and Sydney Stewart (her special card-playing buddy of almost 20 years).
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at Upper Black Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Keith Hamilton officiating.
The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
