Mrs. Carolyn Blackburn Hogan, age 76, died early Tuesday at East Georgia Regional Medical Center. She was a member of the Statesboro First Baptist Church where she was active in the Lydia Sunday School Class and the Senior Choir. Mrs. Hogan was a graduate of the University of Georgia and also obtained her Masters from Georgia Southern University. She worked for many years as a Media Specialist at Willow Hill Elementary School and retired in 1995. Mrs. Hogan was a member of the DAR, the Statesboro Garden Club, and of the Retired Teachers Association. She was an avid traveler and enjoyed volunteering at Worn Threads in Statesboro. Mrs. Hogan was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Harris Hogan.
Survivors include two daughters, Pam Hogan (Tim) Williams of Alpharetta, Ga., and Lisa Hogan Kingery of Statesboro; one granddaughter, Kristin Kingery of Statesboro.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4:00 until 6:00 PM at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at the Statesboro First Baptist Church.
The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery.
