Mr. Carl Lee, age 79, died Saturday at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility. He was a native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County and graduated from Marvin Pittman and joined the Army at age seventeen. He served at Ft. Lewis in Tacoma, Washington where he met his future bride. He was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the 2nd Division. He was wounded in Korea and shipped to Fitzsimmons in Denver, Colorado. Mr. Lee was awarded the Purple Heart for his service in Korea. When Mr. Lee came out of the service, he worked for McDougald Oil for 5 years. He then was employed by Derst Baking Company for thirty seven years serving the same route and customers in the lower part of Bulloch and Bryan Counties. He developed many friendships in the Brooklet, Stilson, Blitchton, Pembroke, Black Creek, Groveland and Leefield area. Mr. Lee loved to fish and shoot pool. In his later years he enjoyed his coffee drinking friends at Hardees each morning. Mr. Lee loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben Levy Lee and Allie Quattlebaum Lee, brothers, Hubert, Wallace, Frank and Don Lee, and sisters, Marguerite Lee Henry and Audry Lee Lowery,
Mr. Lee is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joan Lee; his children, Debra Lee (Johnny) Parrish, Bennie (Wanda) Lee, Steven (Addie) Lee, Perry Lee, and Wally (Lori) Lee; thirteen grandchildren , Andy (Heather) Parrish and Jason (Jessica) Parrish, Ben and John Lee, Michael (Lori) Lee, Andrea (Dave) LaBonte, and Dana(Nick) Batiste, Ashley and Amber Price, Zachary, Gavin, Jordan and Logan Lee; great grandchildren , Cameron Lee, Brian and Kyla Gollihugh, Eva Grace LaBonte, Lilli Ann and Emma Lee Parrish and Paisley Parrish; many nieces and nephews; and a sister in law, Minnie Jones Lee.
Visitation will be held Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Michael, Ben and John Lee, Andy and Jason Parrrish, and Levy Lowery.
Burial will be in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.
