Annie Mae Newman, 87, passed away surrounded by her loving family, Monday, July 13, 2015 in Brown’s Nursing Home under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice.
Mrs. Newman was a native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County and graduated Nevils School. She worked for J. P. Stephens Company, Rose’s Department Store for over 9 years and was a homemaker. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, where she attended the Roscoe Roberts Sunday school class and was active in the WMU. She was preceded in death by her parents, Del and Annie Maude Hendley, brother, Eustis Hendley, son, Ben Newman and grandson, Christopher Newman.
Mrs. Newman is survived by her husband of 67 years, B. E. Newman, Jr.; daughter, Patricia Ann Wilson; son, B. E. “Junior” Newman, III and his wife, Gladys; brother, D. L. Hendley and his wife, Madeline; grandsons, Jonathan Newman and his wife, Glenda and Donnie Wilson; granddaughters, Anita Burke and her husband, David, Amanda Collins and her husband, Shannon, Kristy Hodges and her husband John and Christina Schanen and her husband, David; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Caleb and Ansley Burke, Katie and Kyle Collins, Natalie Hodges, Landon, Cole and Clay Wilson and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, July 15, 2015 in Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, July 16, 2015 in the Chapel of Hodges-Moore with Reverend Joe Eason officiating. Burial will follow in Red Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Jenkins, Gerald Butler, Travis Hendley, Delmore Hendley, Charles Hendley and Bobby Newman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Smith, Trey Hendley, Benny Jenkins, Gary Newman, great-grandsons and the Men’s Ministry of Trinity Baptist Church.
