Tom passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Richmond University Medical Center surrounded by his wife and loving family.
Tom was a Machine Clerk for the U. S. Postal Service in Lakewood, NJ.for over 20 years. Loving husband of Elaine Driscoll (nee Holland) and beloved father to Jillian Thumm and “father” in law to Patrick Thumm. Much loved Poppy to Mason Driscoll Thumm who made him light up with joy. Born on Staten Island, Tom lived in Port Richmond, attended St. Peters Boys High School, and earned his degree in Accounting and Economics at The College of Staten Island. Tom and Elaine moved to South Toms River, NJ in 1986 and enjoyed a wonderful life there where they made many more great friends.
Tom was a wonderful father and husband. An avid sports fan, Tom loved to watch basketball and was a number one Yankee fan. He cherished his time with his grandson, family and his friends and was looking forward to meeting his next grandchild, expected in July. Tom was very quick witted and his sense of humor always made everyone smile. He loved to help his wife when they had company and was known for helping the “host” of any party he went to. He especially loved to relax at his vacation home in Surfside Beach, South Carolina, where he had hoped to move permanently in the future. He loved visiting his daughter, son-in-law and grandson in Hawaii and was looking forward to going again. Being able to FaceTime with his daughter and her family was a godsend to him, and seeing his grandson gave Tom strength in his struggles.
