Retired construction superintendent
Stephen McFadden, 74, of West Brighton, Staten Island, N.Y., a retired construction superintendent, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, in Cancer Treatment Center of America, Philadelphia, Pa.
Visiting is on Wednesday, March 2, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, March 3, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Harmon Funeral Home, 571 Forest Ave., Staten Island, N.Y. Funeral is on Friday, March 4, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church.
Steve was born and raised in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, N.Y., moving to Staten Island in 1969, where he settled down in West Brighton.
Steve was a member of United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 929 for over 40 years. He worked for several construction companies and supervised numerous jobs through out the city including Yankee Stadium, Xanadu in the Meadowlands, Winter Garden, Millennium Hotel, and the Museum of Modern Art.
Steve was an avid fisherman who would jump at the chance to take his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren fishing. His greatest joy was when his family was all together where he could tell stories as only he could.
Steve was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, West Brighton.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Dolores; his daughter, Karen Ward; sons, Stephen and Daniel McFadden; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans , St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Cancer Treatment Centers of America.
