Robert “Bob” Striffler passed away on August 21st 2022 at the age of 70 in his hometown of Staten Island, New York where he was born and raised. He died like he lived showing his courage, kindness, strength of character, and toughness. Despite the pain, Bob continued to be our hero and stayed strong through every challenge he faced.
Bob was born to Herman and Amelia Striffler on April 11th, 1952. He was a loving brother to both John and Joan who have preceded him in death. After graduating Port Richmond High School in 1971 he married his Junior High School sweetheart Theresa (née Clifford) whom he met at a water fountain at I.S. 51. Bob and Terry had been together for over 55 years and he was the most devoted and caring husband.
Of his many accomplishments in his 70 years of life, perhaps his greatest was his care and love of his family. He had two sons Robert Jr. and John, two daughters in law Kim and Tara, and five grandchildren RJ, Justin, Nick, Jenna and Piper all of whom he loved and cared for dearly. He was the true patriarch of the family always willing to help, guide and care for each and everyone of us. He is going to be truly missed by each and every one of us.
Robert was also proud of the fact that he worked for Metro North Railroad in Grand Central Terminal for over thirty years in several capacities, retiring as a manager in 2010. He enjoyed working outside in his garden and model railroading.
A funeral is scheduled for 10:00am on August 24th, 2022 at Zion Lutheran Church on the corner of Watchogue Rd and Willowbrook Rd. In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
