Born in Manhattan, Robert graduated from McKee High School. He served in the Army as well as the Naval Reserve. Robert was a welder with AT&T, formerly Western Electric.
A parishioner of Holy Family Church, S.I., he enjoyed crossword puzzles and walking in the park with his wife, Mary "Mitzi" Palumbo; they were married for 60 years.
Robert was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Mary; a daughter, Rita Marie Ruiz ; grandchildren, Ashley and Michael Palumbo and Tiffany Ruiz; son-in-law, John Ruiz; daughter-in-law, Donna Palumbo, and friends, John Ventrone and Ayaz Akhtor. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Mary Palumbo.
Visitation is Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Casey Funeral Home, S.I. The Mass is Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church, S.I. Interment is private.
