Born in Staten Island, New York, a son of the late Howard Hett and Gertrude Kiernan/Frankmano, stepson of Harold “Baldy” Frankmano, Robert was a member of the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church on Staten Island and a graduate of New Dorp High School. Robert was a very proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served in World War II from May 21, 1943 to May 24, 1946. His service included deployments to the Asia Pacific Area from April 14, 1945 to May, 11 1946 and participation in action against the enemy on the island of Okinawa from June 10, 1945 to July 2, 1945. Upon his honorable discharge from the United States Marine Corps, Robert became an executive of the Chase Manhattan Bank for 34 years, participating in the opening of many new branches for the corporation on Staten Island. He was the friend that everyone had at Chase Manhattan. During this time, he enjoyed coaching and umpiring Little League Baseball while raising his two sons. Upon his retirement from Chase, Robert moved to West End, North Carolina where he enjoyed golfing, playing cards and watching Notre Dame sports with his wife of 60 years. Upon his wife’s death in 2008, Robert moved to Pennsylvania where he enjoyed spending time with his immediate family. He was a devoted father, husband, brother and grandfather to his family.
He is survived by his sons Robert Michael Hett and wife Mary of Melbourne, Australia, and David Michael Hett and wife Beth of Asbury, New Jersey; three grandchildren (Adam, Emily, Daniel); one sister; Trudy Pellegrino of Staten Island, one brother, Jerry Frankmano of Las Vegas. He was predeceased by his brother Howard Hett of Staten Island and his wife of 60 years Jean (nee Willshaw).
Funeral is from the Casey Funeral Home on Saturday with Mass of Christian Burial at Blessed Sacrament at 10:00 a.m. Interment is in Moravian Cemetery.
Friends will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
