Born in Brooklyn, she moved to Great Kills in 2002.
Mrs. Shannon was a homemaker who cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was a parishioner of St. Clare's R.C. Church, Great Kills.
Her husband, James, died in 1996.
She was also preceded in death by her son, James.
Surviving are her son, John; three daughters, Jeannie Thomas, Judy Cangemi and Joan Long; nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday from the Casey-McCallum-Rice South Shore Funeral Home, Great Kills, with a mass at 9:45 a.m. in St. Clare's Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
