Raymond Michael Reilly, 83 of Morganville, New Jersey died peacefully on
August 19, 2020. He was born in Chicago, Illinois and moved with his family to
Staten Island as a child. He attended St. Peter’s High School for Boys following
High school he proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 4 ½ years. During his time in
The U.S. Navy, he served on three destroyers: U.S.S. Badger, U.S.S. Hale and the
U.S.S. Decatur. Ray was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1960,
Following that he worked as a bricklayer for 21 years. He then continued his
Career with the NYC Transit System as a structural maintainer, retiring after 20
Years. After retirement, Ray moved to an adult community in Little Egg Harbor,
New Jersey and finally settling in Morganville, New Jersey. He enjoyed golfing,
Fishing and playing cards with friends.
Ray was married to his loving wife Mary (nee Sullivan) for 50 years and
Enjoyed spending time with his 3 children and grandchildren. His grandchildren
Lovingly referred to him as Pa. He was predeceased by his parents Anna
(Morrisroe) and John Reilly, his brothers John and Daniel Reilly and sisters Eileen
Downing and Leona Reilly-Finn. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons
Brian and Ray (Kristen) and daughter Kathy Christensen (Jeff). His grandchildren
Christopher and Emily Reilly, Tyler, Kailey and Gavin Christensen, and sister
Maureen Sullivan. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Disabled American
Veterans (DAV) or Embracing HospiceCare (Wall, New Jersey).
A memorial mass will be scheduled for friends
And neighbors of Chelsea Square at a later date.
