Ray was born February 22, 1957 to Mr. John Reilly and Mrs. Margaret Chorman Reilly on Staten Island. Ray was one of six Reilly brothers. He attended St. Rita’s Elementary, Wagner H.S. and then enlisted into the U.S. Army. He served his four years in the service, and upon his discharge he worked as a chef at “The Diner” in the Staten Island Mall, where he met his soon to be life-long friend, Mike DeVito. They then left and got hired at Solomon Brothers. Ray had a twenty-five year career as a project accountant at Solomon Brothers and then Goldman Sachs, where he was reunited with Mike again. He also worked at the Forest Inn, then Jimmy Max Restaurant. He worked weekends at Jimmy’s after his city job. His jobs weren’t just work. There were cruises, softball teams, golf outings and dinners at the most premier restaurants in the city with all his wonderful friends.
Ray was an avid Met and Jet fan. He fondly remembered taking off from school and going to see two of the ’69 World Series Games with his mom. Ray and his family would go to many games together. He played Mid Island Little League, with his Dad who was the manager and always involved with all the boys.
Later on in his life, Ray and his friends would make sure they made opening day at Shea and then Citi Field. Always fun, always Life of the Party! For a while, they even planned a yearly trip out to Green Bay to watch a Packer Game.
After retiring, he moved to NJ to be closer to his second family, Dave Raffone and his family. Ray and “Munchkin”, his beloved cat for more then ten years, lived at Covered Bridge in Manalapan.
Ray is survived by his four loving brothers John, Jimmy, Danny, Pat and predeceased by his brother Dennis.
A better friend no one will ever find. You will be missed dearly.
