STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Patricia Pietsch, 79, of Great Kills, a homemaker who loved being a mother and often cared for others, died Monday in Staten Island University Hospital, Princes Bay.
Born Patricia Benoit in Brooklyn, Mrs. Pietsch moved to Great Kills in the late 1960s.
A homemeker, she enjoyed the outdoors and particularly enjoyed fishing off the Great Kills pier with her sons. She often helped elderly people. Mrs. Pietsch was well known in her community because she was very social and often walked around the neighborhood.
She was a parishioner of St. Clare's R.C. Church, Great Kills, and was a longtime member of the American Legion.
Mrs. Pietsch is survived by her sons, Robert and Paul Pietsch; a sister, Sally Delli Paoli, and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday from the Casey McCallum Rice Funeral Home, Great Kills, with a 9:30 a.m. Mass in St. Clare's Church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
