Patricia DiMichele (nee Phelan), 78, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Apr 21, 2018 at Staten Island University Hospital South, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Brooklyn on January 3, 1940 and moved to Annadale, Staten Island in the mid-60s. She was predeced in death by her parents Dorothy & Sidney Phelan, and her sister Carole Gunn. As a child and through her teenage years, Patricia and her family spent every summer at their second home on Candlewood Lake in Connecticut. Her own children were able to enjoy summers at the lake house until it was sold in the early 80s. She worked at Macy’s on Staten Island for twenty years and formed many lasting friendships. She retired in 2000. Patricia was born with a deep and true love of animals, and since a young age, has had several horses, dogs, and many cats. She literally lived for her animals and sacrificed most of her time for their well-being. Patricia was incredibly generous, not only by supporting dozens of honorable charities, but by quietly helping anyone that she came into contact with who was going through a difficult time. Patricia truly enjoyed receiving visits and calls from family and friends and was known for her hour-long conversations. She loved having a good time and is known for turning ordinary holiday dinners into full-blown parties. She will be truly missed and forever loved by her family, friends, and neighbors. Patricia is survived by her daughter, Diane D’Arrigo, former son-in-law, Lawrence D’Arrigo, her daughter, Danielle Johnston, son-in-law, Keith Johnston, grandchildren, Nicole, Lawrence, Michele and Matthew D’Arrigo, her dog Dino, and her many cats. A memorial will be held on Saturday, April 28 from 2:00 to 4:00 at Harmon Funeral Home, 571 Forest Ave., West Brighton. Interment will be at the family’s convenience.
