Pam was a native Staten Islander, born in 1925, the eldest daughter of Mary and Peter Lucioli. Pam was awarded a scholarship to St. John Villa Academy, from which she graduated. She enjoyed working as a bookkeeper in Manhattan. and in later years on Staten Island.
Pam met the love of her life, Enrico “Rico” Berti, when he agreed to teach her to drive. Though she failed her driver’s test, she got a license, nonetheless. They wed on February 4, 1956, and remained happily married 38 years until his death, spending many happy summer hours on Long Beach Island, New Jersey.
Pam loved the beach, birdwatching, and gardening. She was a member of the Staten Island Garden Club and supported many nature causes. Her other love was musical theater, which she shared with her family.
She and Rico had two children, John, and Mary Ellen. Palmira lived in Staten Island for 86 years, relocating with her son to La Crosse, Wisconsin where she fulfilled a long-held goal of cruising on a Mississippi paddleboat. She more recently moved with them to Virginia.
Palmira is survived by her son John (Shareene), her grandchildren Peter (Becky) and Matthew, her great grandchildren Ellie and Jack, and her much beloved nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sister Caroline, her husband Enrico, and their daughter Mary Ellen. She will be dearly missed and remembered with love.
A viewing will be held at Casey funeral home on Saturday February 26, 2022, from 9 to 11 AM, followed immediately by a graveside service at St. Peter’s Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest.
