New York, died April 7, 2020 of complications from COVID-19. Mike was a perfect 20th century man.
Born in Brooklyn on March 16th, 1930, he served his country for several years as a member of the National Guard and the Army, his city for over 30 years as a motorman for the MTA, and his family - most importantly his wife Rose (Bubbles) of 68 years. Mike was the foreman of his family, guiding them while they expanded upon everything he built. After retiring from the MTA in the 1990s, Mike and Rose settled in Staten Island to be closer to their children and grandchildren. His family was the cornerstone of his life and his favorite times were when his family was all together under his roof. He enjoyed traveling as near as New Jersey to see friends and family and as far as Italy, Spain, and Morocco to see the beauty the world had to offer.
Mike became an active member of St. Clare’s Church in Great Kills where he also volunteered. In his free time, he enjoyed Staten Island Yankees games, local theatre, horse races, and cherishing time with his family. Michael was a one-of-a-kind mix of toughness and kindness; his spirit and charisma resonated with anyone who had the fortune of meeting him.
Michael is survived by his wife Rose; his sister Angie and brother-in-law Nick; his son Anthony and his wife Ellen; his daughter Karen; his daughter Michele and her husband Raymond; his seven grandchildren and his great-granddaughter.
A private burial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery in Staten Island, New York.
