 No words can express how we are feeling. Mary and John were one of my very first clients in real estate. They called me to list and sell their condo because they were moving to Florida. I will never forget their spotless lovely home and saying “wow I hope you didn’t clean for me“. And Mary said “oh no, it’s always like this“. That’s when I fell in love with them. And soon after, I met Lou Gina and Michael and that was it. They became our dearest friends forever. Mary truly will be missed but I’m sure she is having a great time with old and new friends in heaven. Always love and never forget the Pannones,

Our memories  of Mary that comes to mind is how she greeted us .. Always with a big beautiful smile we would talk , laugh and catch up with Robert and I  . Whether it was at her pristine lovely home in her kitchen or dining room in Bay Terrace or at Gina and Lou’s house - she never forgot to ask about our family . 
Family was paramount to Mary. Anytime she would talk about Lou or Michael- Mary  would sit up , lift her shoulders with a proud smile and say , “That’s my handsome son..” “That’s my handsome grandson. “  You could tell how much she adored Gina every time they were together . What a great mom she was- she raised  a wonderful son. 
We have great memories of Mary and John’s anniversary party at The Manor years ago . What a wonderful time we all had .  I will hold on to those memories , and reflect back to them..  Let’s keep John in our prayers .

To John Louis Michael Gina.        As I turned onto ovis place today I can see a balcony we’re the Pannone’s had lived . Mary would call Louis time for dinner at the top of her lungs lol we would always try and get 5 more minutes of playing a sport together. Mary was a loving funny caring sincere person. Me and Louis created a lot of havoc but she never would make it personal . Me and Louis had played a lot of sports and other things in the basement. Sorry about the other things Mary lol We would play baseball down there and if we hit the heating duct Mary would let us know about it . It was all good she let me in her home like I was her own . I have a lot of great memories with Mary from going to baseball games at Shea or watching me and Louis playing baseball in Brooklyn then going out for pizza and lime rickies. She played poker and Pokeno with us . Mary was a loving mother caring and devoted wife just a great person. I never told her thank you to you and John for moving to Ovis place and having me and Louis be friends for over 45 years .  Thank you Mary for your friendship guidance and your love you will be missed but not forgotten...    

When Mary met my children, she immediately embraced them as if they were her own grandchildren. Her smile was as bright as the sun, with a personality to match. She brought joy to all, and we will always remember her for that. Sleep in the sweetest peace Meema

Oh where is Scott I loved Mary Pannone she was true sunshine I have so many great memories of her and with her a fabulous smile that lit up a room decorating whenever I wanted curtains or something to decorate we would go to the store that she works at to look for curtains she was a fabulous decorator. I love sitting with her talking to her it was always a great time laughing the last time I got to see her was Michael’s graduation party she was so proud of him and all he did she loved her grandson Michael. We will be missing this wonderful woman at family functions but her memory will live on forever oh my love to the Pannone family

Thank you to my wife, my son, the Desiderio Family my numero unos you all, family and friends for all that you are and for all the kind words, texts, e-mails, pictures and voice messages, thank you all for reaching out. My flip phone is about to blow up. I failed and I briefly forgot due to my weakness my mom Mary Pannone. Dementia progressed and times were tough the last few years. Through all the kind words, texts, e-mails, pictures, voice messages, my book/Facebook commentary, well it brought me back to the great times of who and what my beautifully imperfect volatile mother is and was. Born Mary Gerlog, daughter of my amazing grandparents Angelina and Michael Gerlog, two incredibly strong people and married to the one and only John Pannone for 56 years.Thank You all so so much for bringing my mom back to me. Through my tears of our lives, loves and much laughter, Peace and Love to all of you.RIP MOM, With Love and Thanks your son Louis.

Dear Lou, Gina, Michael & John, 
     Our hearts go out to you.  Mary was a kind, gentle soul.  Her smile, which beamed when she saw you, was genuine.  When she said she was glad to see you - you felt it!  Lou and Gina, you were her world - until she became a grandmother!  She loved that title. Then it was baby Michael who brought out a new, different love.
      Mary was all about family and our family welcomed her and John as part of our own.  I never heard her say a vicious word about anyone.  She always asked how our children and grandchildren were.  She loved gatherings and when I saw her at Mike's College  graduation party, she was quietly sitting at the table, but that smile never left her face!
     When Bill and I spent the day helping them unpack in that beautiful apartment Gina found them, we worked, but we laughed and enjoyed their company.  I, for one, loved Mary's taste in furnishings.  Thank you again for giving me her bedroom set when they no longer could use the apartment.  It has more meaning now as a reminder of the precious lady who once owned it.
     May you all find peace in the happy memories and knowing she is safe in the arms of our Lord.  Love to all of you.

Mary Pannone as she is known to all, but to some, the close some, she is known as Meema. Jack and I were lucky to come to know and love her over the past eight years. Why over the past eight years you may ask? As our families shrunk, losing mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles and siblings we were blessed to be pulled into the Pannone circle. Sharing every Christmas and other holidays. Meema was a fabulous cook, she made many Italian delicacies. A lot of food, so much food, food for days, as we would get a to go plate as well, Yum. Meema dressed beautifully with her sparkle blouses, full makeup, hair done and decked with her jewels. She welcomed us all with open arms, smiled, looked straight into your eyes and listened intently to all you had to say. She seemed to hang on your every word!! My mom, Florence often felt displaced after losing so many of her family members. Meema helped to make her feel comfortable, at home and gave her that much missed feeling of belonging to a clan. I will always be grateful for that Meema. Meema, you will be missed at Christmas and every day of the year.

I loved spending the night at your house, being spoiled with entenmann’s donuts for breakfast, learning to eat artichokes with you and my favorite memory, eating the salad right out of the bowl, the more red wine vinegar, the better! Once we moved to Florida you continued to be a big part of my life. Taking the train for 3 days to see me graduate high school and college. Being a part of my bridal shower and reading at my wedding. You were overjoyed when I finally had my miracle babies. They fell in love with you just as I did! You may not be here anymore but our memories will be apart of me forever. I love you! 

Mary was such a lovely woman!! Always dressed to the nines! Makeup was always done! She always treated me and my son like family! She will be surely missed. You will always be in my thoughts and prayers!! Rest In Peace Meema!!

Mary was a wonderful woman and a close friend to my mother, Belinda.  I thoroughly enjoyed getting close to her over the years in South Florida.  When inviting my parents out for a Friday evening dinner, they were automatically on the guest list (not to mention her husband John was my drinking buddy)!  

My wife Lindsey and I felt over the last few years while they were in Florida to always look out for them similar to my own parents - around hurricane season and during hurricane prep.  

I remember her embrace and her proud Italian roots.  Jokingly chanting with her: ‘Italian! Italian!’ Or ‘Ovis Place! Or ‘heyyyy sausage and peppers!’  Anytime we’d stop by to check on them she’d always offer me a beer ‘heyyy Matthew how about a cold drink!?’  Good times!

Mary embraced my wife and was very thoughtful and caring towards my two daughters - often spoiling them with candy and little trinkets.  On Halloween’s she’d make it a point that we’d have to stop by after a night of trick or treating so she could spoil my kids.

It’s crazy to think that my parents were able to cultivate such a lifelong friendship with the Pannone’s which started as young kids starting out in a quad type home in Staten Island . That type of friendship can be cherished, almost rare in today’s world.  

She is missed.

Hearing  that we lost aunt Mary was heart wrenching... Growing up next to aunt Mary and uncle John was a gift like no other. 

My fondest memories are of her and my mom just hanging around in their smocks drinking coffee. I will forever hear her “you whoo” as she opened our side door. Like my brother mentioned she was a second mother to all of us. I remember hiding her shoes so she would have to stay at our house just a little longer. She was my moms strength when one of us, usually Jason, gave her a hard time. She had a sense of peace about her. Always the voice of reason. I never saw her angry, frustrated or sad she was one of strong lady. She loved us like we were her own. 

Her love for her family was like no other. As the years passed by she got to see the young girl who used to fall asleep in her dining room in the corner grow up to be a mother of her own. She was a part of not only my childhood but my three kids as well... she loved all of them like they were her own grandkids and spoiled them every chance she had. 

Aunt Mary will forever leave an imprint on my heart and will be terribly missed...

Although she is no longer with us she will forever be our angel... I know and find much comfort knowing that she is well and watching over us...

I love you aunt Mary and will miss your beautiful presence... 

Aunt Mary had the best smile.  She also was an amazing cook. I will always remember her sweet voice. Our special time together was on holidays when we talked about cooking. She will be greatly missed. 

A terrible loss yesterday.  Mary was a 2nd mom to me. The relationship we had was unique, filled with love, laughs, and always sharing our families. She always had supporting words and thoughts for my siblings Nicole Gonzalez, Matthew, her goddaughter Debra Coussa, parents, nieces, nephews, Gianna, Nick and I. She loved updates on us through the years. She loved Caylee and couldn't be happier for the both of us.

Her laugh was unforgettable, her smile was infectious. And her garlic chicken, among other things in the kitchen was unforgettable. (I need to make that!) She was a sister and best friend to my mom Belinda Desiderio.  My mom and Mary are a testament and the finest example to everyone's closest bonds of friendship and love. This is a tough loss especially for my mom and dad.  

Mary was there through the rough times and certainly the best times. She saved me in my youth more than I can remember. Screen room coffee, lunches, dinners, holidays, vacations, Fla visits, confirmation, college graduation, and birth of my kids. On 9/11/2001 covered in soot and ash, not being able to get home, I knew where I could when I got off the ferry, so a friend and I took the train, then got a ride to her house where she and John provided safety, clean clothes, Stuffed Peppers, and the most calming and caring atmosphere in the midst of the world chaos. It is a lifetime of memories that are a part of who I am. 

The one thing I will always remember and most special is the open door to her heart.

Thoughts and concern are with John right now.  Sharing memories with Lou and Michael and GinaMarie Pannone on the phone and via pictures brings a smile and hopefully comfort to us all.  I can only hope that everyone can be blessed to have people in their lives such as Mary.  You are already missed.
