Born Marivel Malave in Brooklyn, she was brought to Great Kills as a child.
Ms. Malave worked for 30 years as the president of D.D.C Publishing Co., Manhattan. She was still working at the time of her death.
Ms. Malave graduated from Susan Wagner High School and the College of Staten Island.
She was an animal lover who enjoyed dogs. She also enjoyed cycling and skiing. "She was a great daughter, great sister, great mother, great aunt and a great person, and she loved shopping," said her sister, Jenny Malave-Davis.
Along with her sister, Jenny, also surviving are her husband of 25 years; Scott Capizzi; two daughters, Monica Salazar and Arianna Rose Capizzi; her mother, Sara Malave; one brother, Eliseo Malave, and two more sisters, Milagros Cassano and Anita Malave.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Virginia Funeral Chapel, Dongan Hills. Burial will be in Ocean View Cemetery, Oakwood.
