Marilyn Carter was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother, also known affectionately as Aunt Ma and GG. She passed away peacefully on July 4 at the age of 87. A native Staten Islander she graduated from Curtis High School and attended the College of Staten. She had a successful 30-year career with the USPS retiring as the Delivery and Collection Manager at Peck Slip in Manhattan. She enjoyed spending time with her many friends, playing cards and could not wait to get back to the theatre and concerts she loved Johnny Mathis as well as visiting the casinos in AC. Her ultimate joy and purpose was being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be cherished and missed forever. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband James Carter who passed away in 1982 as well as daughter Cheryl Logan Schultz and son Russell Carter She is survived by her three children, Rochelle Washington, Richard Logan and James Carter Jr, sisters Eleanor Johnson, Constance King, and brother Marshall De Groat, 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Friends and family will be received at Harmon Funeral Home, 571 Forest Ave in Staten Island on Thursday July 8th from 2-4p and 7-9p. A funeral mass will be held at St. Peters Church 53 St. Marks Pl in Staten Island on Friday July 9 at 10am followed by interment at Moravian Cemetery.
