Maria T. Pacheco

Born Maria Montalvo, she moved to Brooklyn in 1960 and to Sunnyside in 1989.

Mrs. Pacheco spent most of her life as a homemaker. She also worked as a secretary for New York Life Insurance Company for seven years.

In her leisure time, Mrs. Pacheco enjoyed helping friends and family decorate their homes. She also made custom jewelry.

Mrs. Pacheco’s sister, Migdalia Soto, said she always considered her sister a strong person for living through several physical ailments, including heart surgery and cancer.

“She was a fighter,” Mrs. Soto said.

Mrs. Pacheco was a member of Faith Community International Church, Castleton Corners.

Surviving are her husband of 19 years, Jose; two sons, Ruben and Steven; her mother, Rosa Morales; two brothers, Hector and Heriberto; two sisters, Migdalia Soto and Madeline Caban, and four grandchildren.

The funeral will be tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. in the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
