Wagner College nursing professor, beloved wife, loving mother, adoring grandmother
Margaret "Peggy" Gallagher passed away on March 2, 2020.
She was the beloved wife of Michael; loving mother of Michael (Robin) and William; adoring grandmother of Michael, Hayley Ann, Cora and Regan; dear sister of Catherine Halliday and Patricia Hogan.
Peggy has been battling cancer for the past six years but was still working up to two weeks ago. She started her nursing career at the Eger Nursing Home, moving on to Staten Island Hospital, Beekman Downtown Hospital, Westchester County Medical Center (deputy Director of Nursing), then senior vice president of St. Vincent's/Bailey Seton Hospital. All of this experience made Peggy realize she had what it takes to start her own business. Thus began Executive Care Patient Consulting. Peggy was eager to pass on her skills and knowledge as a professor of nursing at Wagner College for the last 10 years, educating future nurses. She loved to travel, often taking her family on vacation (sometimes on a moment's notice). An amazing woman, she obtained her master's degree while being a full-time wife and mom.
Reposing is Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Casey Funeral Home, 350 Slosson Ave., Staten Island. Funeral Mass is at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Teresa of the Infant Jesus Church. Entombment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
