Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother Lorraine Sullivan died peacefully at home on Thursday, December 14th. A lifelong Staten Islander Lorraine was born September 21, 1932 and raised in New Brighton. Graduating from St. Peter’s Girls High School in 1950, Lorraine worked for Chase Manhattan Bank prior to her marriage to Dennis Sullivan in 1957. Lorraine was a long-time parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church and active in the Mother’s Guild and Parish Prayer Network for many years. She enjoyed trips to Ireland and Atlantic City as well as arts & crafts and was an avid photographer.
Lorraine is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Dennis, her children Maureen Smith (Dave), Eileen Christie (Kevin), Patrick (Mary) and Dennis (Irene). She also is survived by her eight grandchildren Danny, Timmy (Katie), Kerry (Ari), Patrick, Brendan, Katherine, Erin, and Clare and two great grandchildren Kayleigh and Ezra.
Lorraine is also survived by her sister Eileen Kavanagh (John), sister in laws Mary, Doris and Dianne McCahill, Anna Smith (James) and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Eileen and Michael and her brothers Charles, Donald, and Brendan.
The family would like to thank care givers Judy Gambino and Karen Pascoe for their kindness and compassion.
Visitation will be at Harmon Funeral home on December 17th from 3-7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be from Blessed Sacrament Church at 10:00 a.m. on Monday December 18th followed by interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lorraine’s name can be made to Blessed Sacrament Church.
