Sr. Linda was born on Staten Island and grew up in Dongan Hills, the youngest of four children to John and Gertrude Isola. She entered the Presentation Sisters of Staten Island on September 8, 1966. She professed her first vows on July 4, 1969 and her final vows on June 2, 1974. Sr. Linda attended St. Ann’s Elementary School, Countess Moore High School and Fordham University, where she received a BS in English, an MS in Religious Education and a Professional Diploma in Spirituality. She received her PhD from New York Theological Seminary.
Sr. Linda taught at Immaculate Conception Elementary School, Moore Catholic High School and Monsignor Farrell High School. She ministered at the Center for Spiritual Development in Manhattan; worked as a Pastoral Associate at Holy Rosary and Our Lady Star of the Sea. Sr. Linda was a volunteer teacher at the Arthur Kill Correctional Facility. She was an instructor in the Spiritual Development Program and a presenter at the Spirituality Convocation of the Center for Spiritual Development from the Archdiocese of New York. Within her religious community, Sr. Linda served as a Councilor and any ministries that were needed.
Sr. Linda was energetic, active, and fun loving. She had a great love for animals and would often be found taking care of others’ pets, when the need arose. Sr. Linda was an avid reader, enjoyed walking, liked to crochet and loved to make brownies. Above all, service to others was at the heart of everything she did.
Sr. Linda leaves behind her Sisters in the Presentation Community as well as her sister, Jacqueline Lupo Diorio, a brother-in-law Vincent Diorio, and her sister-in-law, Mary Jane Isola. She was preceded in death by her sister Madelyn Costello and a brother John Isola. Sr. Linda also leaves behind 9 nieces and nephews, 18 grand nieces and nephews and many friends.
Visitation will be at Casey McCallum Rice Funeral Home on Wednesday. Friends will be received 2-4pm & 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Clare Church, 110 Nelson Avenue on Thursday at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at the Presentation Sisters Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested a donation in Sr. Linda’s name to Alzheimer’s Association of Staten Island or Staten Island University Hospital, University Hospice.
