After a long battle with Pick's Disease, Julia Lynch (nee Waugh) died peacefully in her home surrounded by family on August 12, 2022. Julia was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was born in Manhattan, NYC on October 2, 1948 to Irish Immigrant parents. Julia attended Cathedral high school and Thorpe secretarial school. Julia moved to the Bronx after getting married to the love of her life Brendan Edward Lynch at Saint Patrick's Cathedral. She had 3 sons Sean, Brian and Brendan. In 1977, Julia and her family moved to Staten Island where she would spend the rest of her life.
While her sons were little, Julia worked as a lunch lady at Our Lady of Good Counsel School. She also enjoyed volunteering her time at the school. She then went to work as a secretary for the New York Foundling Hospital.
Julia was a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians. Julia loved attending and volunteering at the annual Staten Island Irish Fair.
Julia had a zest for life! She loved going to the Jersey Shore with her family. She loved to dance, travel, and spending a lot of time with her friends. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She never missed an event in their lives.
Julia is survived by her loving husband Brendan, her three sons and daughters in law- Sean and Catherine, Brian and Kimberly, and Brendan and Kelly, and her 7 Grandchildren - Stephanie, Patrick, Christopher, Ruby, Brian, James and Quinn. She is also survived by her brother George. Julia was predeceased by her parents John and Eileen Waugh and her sisters Peggy, Eileen and Patsy.
Visitation will be at Harmon Funeral on Wednesday August 17th from 2-4pm and
7-9pm. A funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church at 10 am on Thursday August 18th, followed by an internment at Moravian Cemetery immediately following.
