She was born Josephine Gioe in the Dyker Heights section of Brooklyn, and grew up there. She had been a longtime parishioner of St. Ephrem's R.C. Church, Brooklyn, where she belonged to the senior club.
Mrs. Piccolomini moved to Prince's Bay in 2010.
Mrs. Piccolomini was a great cook and baker, family said, known mostly for her cheesecake and rice balls.
She liked to sew and crochet, making mainly baby blankets. She also enjoyed playing cards and going to Atlantic City with her friends.
"She was sweet and extremely compassionate. She had kind words to say to everyone." said her daughter, Teresa Lazzara.
Mrs. Piccolomini was a parishioner of St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Rossville.
Her husband of more than 50 years, Dominick, died in 2002.
Along with her daughter, Teresa, surviving are her son, Joseph; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Tuesday from the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners, with a mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection cemetery, Pleasant Plains
