Born in Tufo, Italy, Mr. Tucciarone was brought to Rosebank as a child. He settled in Dongan Hills in 1957.
He worked for the city Sanitation Department and other city agencies before earning his certification as a stationary engineer. He then worked for Sea View Hospital as a stationary engineer for 30 years. He later worked as a stationary engineer at the former Bayley Seton Hospital in Clifton, retiring in 1999.
He attended McKee High School and left at the age of 17 to become a Merchant Mariner for 12 years. When he returned, he earned his GED. He also joined the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War.
He was a member of the Merchant Marine Club and the American Legion.
He enjoyed building homes, gardening and spending time with his family and traveling, especially to Italy with his wife.
He was a parishioner of St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Rosebank.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years the former Lydia Mazzucco; three sons, Peter, John and Joseph, and five grandchildren.
The funeral will be Friday from the Virginia Funeral Chapel, Dongan Hills, with a mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
