Mr. Stentella was born in Alcamo, Sicily. He moved with his family as an infant to West Brighton.
He graduated from Susan Wagner High School, where he played football.
Mr. Stentella was a longtime resident of Castleton Corners.
Mr. Stentella owned many businesses over the years; most recently he owned and operated Paw Prints Pet Supplies, Castleton Corners.
He was fond of animals and was a Mopar car enthusiast.
Mr. Stentella enjoyed playing football and was a member of the Bradley Bombers team. He also played softball for Guido's Lounge, a family-owned business.
Mr. Stentella was a New York Mets and New York Jets fan.
Mr. Stentella enjoyed animals and music. He had the ability to name a song and its artist whenever it was played, family said.
He was loved by all, they added.
He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart R.C. Church, West Brighton.
He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Ann McCue; two sons, Anthony and Robert; a daughter, Laura Kovaleski; his mother, Gina Stentella; two brothers, Ceasar and Carl, and two sisters, Diane Stentella and Anna Amato.
The funeral will be Saturday from the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners, with a mass at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
