Mr. Marshall was born and raised in Stapleton. He lived in Silver Lake before settling in Willowbrook.
He graduated from Curtis High School.
Mr. Marshall worked for 30 years as a city firefighter at Engine’s 278 and 228, both in Brooklyn. He retired in 1994 from Ladder 78 in New Brighton. He was a member of the FDNY Retirees, the Am Vets and the Fairway Golf Club.
An avid golfer, he also enjoyed reading and traveling to Europe and the Caribbean. St. Martin was his favorite vacation spot.
He was generous, social and kindhearted, said his family.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Marshall was a parishioner of St Rita’s R.C. Church, Willowbrook.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, the former Patricia O’Neill; a son, John; two daughters, Dawn Brown and Melissa Albero, and six grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday from the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners, with a mass at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Stapleton. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, West Brighton.
