John L. De Sena, age 79, of Staten Island, New York, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and compassion. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Fiore and Mary De Sena, John touched the lives of many through his selflessness and hard work.
John was a devoted educator who spent his career as a teacher for the NYC Board of Education, imparting knowledge and shaping young minds. His dedication to his profession reflected his commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others.
He was a beloved brother survived by Richard, Steven, Phyllis, and Marilyn, with whom he shared countless memories and experiences. John's love extended to his children, Christine, Jacqueline, Jennifer, Laura, Valerie, and Daniel, whom he cherished deeply. He found joy in their achievements and supported them wholeheartedly throughout their lives.
John's nephew Louis and his nieces Lynn and Lisa, who cared for him were especially dear to him. He was also the loving uncle to Jason, Gregory, Steven, Megan, and Karen.
Though he faced his share of loss, including the passing of his children Alexis and John, as well as his siblings Elsie, Ralphie, and Frankie, John remained resilient, finding strength in the love of those around him.
A visitation to honor John's life will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Casey-McCallum Rice Funeral Home, 30 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10308. A funeral service will take place on Friday, May 17, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Clare's Church, 110 Nelson Avenue Staten Island, NY 10308.
