Jerry Agro

Born in Tompkinsville, he moved to Port Richmond Center in 1965; Willowbrook in 1972, and Westerleigh in the early 1980s.

He attended St. Peter's Boys High School and graduated from Curtis High School.

Mr. Agro owned and operated Rainbow Cleaners on Forest Avenue in West Brighton from the early 1980s until his retirement five years ago. A social and upbeat man, he was known as the Mayor of Forest Avenue. He enjoyed singing and would perform at family weddings and birthday parties. He loved watching sports and his favorite teams were the New York Yankess and Giants. In his younger years, he played softball and was the manager and sponsor of his own team. For vacations, he enjoyed taking his family to the Jersey Shore. He was a fan of Elvis Presley and would often do singing and acting impressions of the King.

He was known for making people laugh, and even in the saddest of times, he could make you smile, his family said.

"In the Agro household, he was the rock that all of his family would lean against," his family said.

Mr. Agro served in the U.S. Marines stateside after high school, and was a parishioner of Holy Family R.C. Church, Westerleigh.

Surviving are his wife, the former Lynda Perricone; two sons, Jerry Jr. and Michael; a daughter, Melissa Gallina; a brother, Frank LoPresti; two sisters, Marylou Heffran and Cynthia Driscoll, and three grandchildren.

The funeral will be Monday from the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners, with a mass at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Family Church. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, West Brighton.
