Jim is survived by his wife Mary, together in life for 42 years, his daughter Lisa and son-in-law Max, grandsons Ryan and Daniel, his predeceased brother Charles and sister-in-law Shiela, niece Jennifer, and nephew Jimmy. Also survived by his many brothers and sisters-in-law and a slew of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews from the Casciani family, and his beloved predeceased pets Holly, Blue and Bella.
Jim began his work life in the automobile mechanics trade becoming one of the youngest Esso gas station and auto repair owners at 21. Some years later he transitioned these skills to his next career, Marine Cargo Surveyor at Toplis and Harding Inc. while attending college at night, eventually retiring as the Deputy Marine Director.
Business introduced Jim to golf which he continued to enjoy in retirement frequenting South Shore and LaTourette Golf courses weekly as well as his regular Monday foursome with the boys at what seemed like every course in New Jersey.
Throughout his life Jim was a voracious reader, so much so he took a 600-page book about the Balkans for some light reading on a cruise!
He also loved to engage in spirited discussions about politics and his booklet of the Declaration Of Independence and US Constitution was always nearby.
These last year’s Parkinson's Disease stole his mobility and cognitive abilities leaving him unable to golf or read. Jim endured with his strength of character, kindness, sense of humor, and humility. He was not a religious man but believed in God, loved deeply, and will be missed by all who loved him deeply.
In lieu of flowers, please support the Parkinson Foundation, American Heart Association, and the ASPCA in his remembrance.
