Iluminada Ortiz

Iluminada Ortiz peacefully passed away on Monday, July 1, 2024. Born on July 4, 1927, in Hatillo, Puerto Rico, she later migrated to the United States where she married her late husband, Octavio Ortiz. Together, they raised four children: Harry, Sam, Ana, and Liz. Iluminada was a proud graduate of The Assemblies of God Bible School and dedicated many years to teaching Sunday school.

Known to her friends as Lucy, a name she encouraged people to call her, Iluminada was one of the first few members of The Brooklyn Tabernacle, where she volunteered her time cleaning and assisting in various capacities. Her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a passion for cooking and was actively involved in her church. Iluminada also had artistic talents, enjoying drawing and singing, and even recorded a few songs during her lifetime.

Iluminada will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Her kindness, faith, and loving spirit leave a lasting legacy that will be cherished forever.

A celebration of life for Illuminada will be held Saturday, July 6, 2024 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM at The Brooklyn Tabernacle, 17 Smith St, Brooklyn, NY 11201.

Following the celebration of life will be a graveside service from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Ocean View The Cemetery Beautiful, 3315 Amboy Rd, Staten Island, NY 10306.
