Helen was born in Williams-burg, Brooklyn, N.Y., and graduated from Curtis High School. She was a school aide (known as "late-pass lady"), and retired from Susan B. Wagner High School after 25 years.
She was a former member of the Castleton Hill Moravian Church. Helen enjoyed dancing (jitterbug, polka, rock 'n roll), swimming, and corresponding with friends.
Helen was a member of the Clove Lake Civic Association, Todt Hill Friendship Club, and the S.I. Council for Animal Welfare. She was interested in animal welfare, particularly cats.
Helen was married for 46 years to the late Daniel McGrath. She is survived by her children, Daniel R. McGrath and Randall McGrath, and grandchild, Julia Kete.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Maureen McGrath.
Visitation is Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Casey Funeral Home. Cremation is private.
