STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Gloria Italiano, 86, a homemaker and volunteer who was devoted to her family and her faith, died Tuesday in Sea View Hospital Rehabilitation Center and Home, where she had resided since 2008.
Born Gloria Cicero, she grew up in Stapleton and graduated from McKee High School. She settled in Oakwood in 1960.
Mrs. Italiano worked at Western Electric in Manhattan before leaving the work force to raise her children.
She volunteered at Meals on Wheels and also as crossing guard at PS 50 in Oakwood.
Mrs. Italiano enjoyed listening to Italian music and opera.
She was an active parishioner of St. Charles R.C. Church, Oakwood.
Her husband of 56 years, Anthony Sr., died in 2013.
Surviving are her sons, Anthony Jr., and John; her daughter, Marie Italiano-Bohl; two brothers, Sebastian and Richard Cicero; two sisters, Caroline Coscia and Veronica Casazza, and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday from the Virginia Funeral Chapel, Dongan Hills, with a mass at 9:15 a.m. in St. Charles Church. Burial will follow in St. Peter's
