Frances (Maydick) Taylor of Waldwick, NJ passed away on April 4, 2024. Fran was born in Stapleton in 1929 to Frieda and Lawrence Maydick as their 8th of 11 children. As a child, she played in the Rocky Hollow Fife and Drum Corp and graduated from Curtis High School. She then worked for Western Union in Manhattan. In 1954, Fran married Thomas Taylor and they settled in Rosebank where they raised their seven children. During her lifetime Fran was always artistic, which was displayed in the many quilts that she made. Her painting skills were so wonderful that she would make and teach ceramics in the basement of her home. She also volunteered her time at St. Mary’s School with bazaars, card parties, Chinese auctions and bingo as well as assisting both the girl scouts and boy scouts with their endeavors.
After Tom’s death in 1989, Fran moved to the Poconos before relocating to Waldwick, NJ in 1997, where she would spend the rest of her life. She enjoyed traveling and quilting, but it was family that meant the most to her. She loved to attend family reunions, parties and any of her children’s or grandchildren’s milestones or activities.
Frances is survived by her five sons – Thomas (Carol), Edward (late Regina), William, James (Maureen) and Mark (Amy) as well as her two daughters – Barbara Taylor and Susan Tarrant (Rick). She also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren as well as her sister Dorothy O’Shaughnessy and her sisters in law – Joan Taylor, Helen Maydich and MaryJo Naples.
