Florence Mauritzen passed away November 28 at her daughter Kathleen's home in Pennsylvania. She was born Florence Suppa in Staten Island, New York on November 5, 1928 the youngest of three children. She graduated at 16 from Curtis high school and went on to Drake business school. She worked for several companies in Manhattan as a secretary and was so proud of her secretarial skills especially stenography which she still liked to use.
Florence married Richard (Dick) Mauritzen in 1951 and was married to him for 51 years. She stayed at home to raise her daughters until returning to the work force in the 70's. Upon retirement Florence and Dick did extensive traveling around the world for several years. She was a great cook and enjoyed watching her grandchildren.
She had been living in Drexelhill,Pennsylvania for the last 4 years where her great grandchildren gave her such joy. She was the last of her era and will be greatly missed.
Survived by her daughters Kathleen Lynch and Lynn Smith, her grandchildren Eric Walker, Christine Smith, Richard Lynch , Daniel Smith, Myles Lynch, Tanya McGrath , William Lynch, and Brian Lynch. She had 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Friday December 2nd at Casey Funeral home at 350 Slosson Ave from 10:30 to 11:30 am with burial to follow at St. Peter's cemetery.
