Eugene A. Isola, 80, of Annadale, a retired New York City Sanitation worker, business owner, and U.S. Navy veteran, who was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Seaview Rehabilitation Center.
Born and raised in New Dorp, he graduated from New Dorp High School in 1961. He settled in Annadale in 1976.Eugene truly lived for his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Patricia (Helt), his children Tracy and her husband Thomas, Kim and her husband Jean Pierre and Amy, as well as his six grandchildren: Michael, Brielle, Jake, Sadie, Riley, and Reese.
Eugene had a 20-year career with the city Sanitation Department. While working for the city, he started his own successful lawn care and landscaping business, Isola Landscaping. After retiring from the Sanitation Department, Eugene continued to work hard and landed a part-time job with Continental Airlines at Newark Liberty Airport, which allowed him and his family to travel spontaneously. In 2019, Eugene sold his business and retired from the airport in order to spend more time with his cherished family and friends and fully enjoy his hobbies and personal interests.
Eugene loved traveling with his wife, spending time with his children and grandchildren and hanging out with dear friends. He also enjoyed tending to his koi pond, and was a devoted Rangers and Yankees fan. He was a man of few words with a huge heart, who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Jean, his brothers Robert and Roy, and his sister Ruth.
Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, July 11th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home, 30 Nelson Avenue (Great Kills), Staten Island, NY. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Wednesday, July 12th at New Dorp Moravian Church, 2205 Richmond Rd, Staten Island, NY.
