Eileen M. Shaughnessy

Loving mother, grandmother and 'GG'

After a long and love filled life Eileen Smith Shaughnessy, 92, passed away peacefully on March 29, surrounded by her family.

For 62 wonderful years she was the wife of the late Neil Shaughnessy. Together they enjoyed a life filled with family, travel and many adventures. Holidays surrounded by family were her favorite times. She had a very successful career working for New York City Housing. She received many well earned promotions.

Eileen was a avid volunteer for Saint Peter's School and Church and the Auxiliary of Saint Vincent's Hospital. She was very proud to have been a past president of the organizations and was honored as volunteer of the year.

Eileen enjoyed gardening, walking, bowling, trips to Atlantic City, N.J., and lunches with her dear group of friends. She was very thoughtful and always willing to help everyone. She was especially known for always being impeccably dressed.

She was a devout Catholic and treasured going to daily Mass.

Her family joy was multiplied as each of her five children wed. She is survived by Michael and Frances Shaughnessy, Kathleen and Frank McDonald, Kevin and Susan Shaughnessy, Eileen and Edward Draves, and Neil Shaughnessy. Her family circle is completed with 13 wonderful grandchildren and their spouses and two great-grandchildren, whom she adored and who adored her. Her extended circle of love included her loving sister, Pat Hoza, and many, many nieces and nephews. Times spent together were precious for everyone and everyone's favorite memories of her.

Please celebrate her life with her family from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, April 1, at Harmon Funeral Home, 571 Forest Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, April 2, at 10 a.m. at Saint Peter's Church.
