Born in Bayonne, NJ, Ed moved to Staten Island in 1950.
Ed was a WWII Navy Veteran who served on the USS Hornet, Aircraft Carrier CV 12. Dedicated to his country, when asked about his time on the ship during different battles he would tell you, “I was just doing my job, it was just another day at sea!”. During his time in the Navy Ed received the American Theater Medal, Victory Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Medal 9 stars, and Philippine Liberation Medal 2 stars.
After the war, Ed married his childhood sweetheart, Clara (née Mydosh). They were married for 58 years before her passing in 2005. Also pre-deceasing him were his parents Joseph and Agnes (née Markowski) Stanul; Five Sisters, Estelle Parris, Elizabeth Andrews, Josephine Kaminski, Loretta Popko, and Irene Masur; and Two brothers, Walter Stanul and Stanley Stanul.
Left to Cherish his memory are a Daughter Barbara Stanul-Taranto and longtime partner, Bruce Mantello; Grand-daughters Jennifer Taranto and Samantha along with her husband, Kevin Wohlfahrt; Great-Grandchildren Chase & Charlotte Macri, and Shayne Wohlfahrt.
Ed will be laid to rest on Friday May 22nd from Casey Funeral Home 350 Slosson Avenue Staten Island NY 10314. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 AM With burial 11AM at Moravian Cemetery. **Due to the Covid-19 pandemic we are not expecting anyone to attend. We will be celebrating his life at a later date.
