Diane Marie Vazzana, 62, died peacefully, surrounded by family, at Richmond University Medical Center. Born and raised in New Brighton, S.I., Diane resided for the past 25 years in West Brighton. She was a graduate of St. Peter's Elementary School and Curtis High School. Diane devoted the last 32 years of her life working as a nurse's aide and housekeeper for Anna Erika Adult Home, continuing there as a chambermaid as the facility transformed into Harbor Terrace Adult Care and Assisted Living. Daughter of the late Marie and Thomas Vazzana, Diane is survived by her brother, Dr. Thomas Vazzana, and sisters, Virginia Vazzana, and Charlene Athas; sister-in-law, Kathy Vazzana; brother-in-law, George Athas, and her boyfriend, Anthony Pair. Diane spent many happy times with her nieces and nephews, namely, Virginia, Kathleen, Caroline, Thomas, Deena, Dawn, CJ, and Sara. Diane enjoyed shopping along Forest Avenue, trips to Atlantic City, and going to the movies. She looked forward each year to her niece's JDRF team walk and never missed participating as a team walker for the Virginia's Shining Stars team. Whether it was a school play, concert, sporting event, dance recital, or graduation, Diane was always there to share her family's special moments. She especially looked forward to celebrating the holidays, surrounded by family and friends at her brother's home. She will be greatly missed.
