STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Funeral arrangements have been set for lifelong Great Kills resident Dennis V. D'Eredita, 30, a city police officer who died Saturday in Tallman Mountain State Park, Palisades, N.Y.
Mr. D'Eredita was a city police officer for nine years.
He graduated from St. Joseph by-the-Sea High School, and earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Albany.
He was adept at carpentry. He also enjoyed riding Jet Skis and all-terrain vehicles.
Mr. D'Eredita was a parishioner of St. Clare's R.C. Church, Great Kills.
"He was very loving, very friendly," Mr. D'Eredita's brother, Joseph, said. "He did everything for everyone. He was the best brother and son anyone could ever have."
Besides his brother Joseph, Mr. D'Eredita is survived by his father, Dennis; his mother, the former Lorraine DiBartolo; his brother, Michael; his sister, Dayna D'Eredita; his grandmothers, Loretta Sellitti and Mary D'Eredita, and his step-grandmother, Carol DiBartolo.
The funeral will be Thursday from the Casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home, Great Kills, with a mass at 12:15 p.m. in St. Clare's Church. Arrangements include cremation.
