Dan Donovan passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 28th surrounded by family. Dan was born in Ballygurteen, Clonakilty, County Cork, Ireland. Dan was the loving son of the late Katherine O'Leary O'Donovan (Kit) and the late William O'Donovan. He sailed from Cobh, County Cork, Ireland on the SS America to New York City in August 1964. He settled in West Brighton, Staten Island. In 1965 he was drafted into the United States Army and was assigned to the Combat Engineers in Fort Carson, Colorado. He was honorably discharged in 1967. Then he began a long career in banking. He worked at Morgan Guaranty Trust Company Of New York on Wall St which later became known as JP Morgan. During his career he was instrumental at helping people advance their careers. He retired as a Vice President in 1998. After taking some time off he began a career at Bank Of Tokyo Mitsubishi in Jersey City where he also retired as a Vice president in 2010. During his life and retirement he enjoyed traveling and especially socializing. He really loved his many trips back home to Ireland to see his large family and many friends. Other places he enjoyed visiting over the years were Scotland, England, Wales, The Catskills (East Durham), Vermont, Maine, Canada and many states out west. He was also a big music lover and attended many concerts. He loved Country, Irish Music and Rock N Roll. Some of his favorites were The Dubliners, The Wolfe Tones, Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson and John Prine. He also loved many restaurants and bars in Staten Island and Manhattan. Places he really enjoyed over the years were Harry's at Hanover Square, Duffy's and especially Nurnberger Bierhaus. He was a member of the County Cork Association, The St. Patrick's Society of Brooklyn and the Hibernians. He was loved by many. Dan is survived by his wife Eileen, son Daniel, daughter Mary, son in law Thomas Ehmer, granddaughter Orla, grandson Daniel, sisters Eileen, Noelle, Marian, Mary, Carmel, and his late sister Kathy. Brothers, John, Barry, Frank, Flor and his cousin John Pendergast.
