Cheryl Anne Keohan, age 80, of Great Kills, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024. Born in Brooklyn on September 18, 1943, to Anthony and Elvira Yukanartch, Cheryl lived a full and accomplished life marked by dedication, generosity, and adventure.
Cheryl earned her bachelor's degree and went on to build a successful career as an executive secretary at Time Warner. She was known for her professionalism and commitment to her work.
A passionate advocate for animals, Cheryl especially loved dogs. She was a generous donor to various animal foundations and veteran groups, and she supported the Tunnel to Towers Foundation with exceptional generosity. Cheryl also dedicated her time volunteering at a local thrift shop, reflecting her commitment to helping others.
Cheryl was predeceased by her beloved husband of 50 years, George. Together, they were avid travelers, exploring over 20 countries including England and Ireland, and embarking on more than 300 cruises. Their shared love for travel brought them joy and countless memories.
Cheryl is also predeceased by her brother, Anthony. She will be deeply missed by her friends and family, who will forever cherish her memory and the impact she had on their lives.
A gathering to celebrate Cheryl's life will be held at Casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home on July 25, 2024 from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation or a favorite animal charity.
