Carol Sauthoff

Born Carol A. Johnsen in Brooklyn, she was brought to Castleton Corners in 1951 and graduated from Port Richmond High School. She relocated to Rome, N.Y., in 1969, but returned to the Island in 1974, moving to Dongan Hills. She settled once more in Castleton Corners in 1980.

Mrs. Sauthoff worked as a nurse's aide at the Swedish Home for Aged, Sunnyside, for 10 years. She retired in 1991.

She enjoyed taking weekend motorcyle trips with her husband, and an annual visit to the Americade touring motorcycle rally in Lake George, N.Y.

Surviving are her husband of 44 years, Chris; her son, Edward; her mother, Jesse Johnsen, and two sisters, Elaine Sowa and Sharon Johnsen.

The funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners. Arrangements include cremation.
