Family man, veteran, operating engineer
Arnold 'A.J.' Johnson, lifelong Staten Islander, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2016.
Arnold was a hard working family man who worked for 44 years as an operating engineer and was a member of good standing in Local 15 after serving his country in the Army in Vietnam. While in Vietnam, Arnold was a recipient of a bronze star. Arnold retired in 2013.
Arnold is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Gloria (nee Scudera). He is also survived by his daughter, Stacey D'Alessandro, her husband, Tony, and their two daughters, Amanda and Samantha; and his son, Steven, his wife, Denise, and their children, Katie, Steven and Nicole.
A funeral service will be held at Virginia Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where the Army will hold an honor guard service, with a religious service at 8:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Addeo Hospice Residence, 78 Meisner Ave., Staten Island, N.Y. 10306 in memory of Arnold.
