

Longtime Meiers Corners resident Ann Koetas, 88, a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family, died Wednesday in the Inglemoor Rehabilitation and Care Center in Livingston, N.J., where she was recovering from hip surgery.
Born Ann Papuzinski in Bayonne, N.J., Mrs. Koetas had lived in Meiers Corners for 58 years.
A graduate of Bayonne High School, she was a secretary at Western Electric in Kearney, N.J., and a bookkeeper for Abramson's Jeweler's, in Bayonne, for a few years before she became a mother and full-time homemaker.
She was also an Avon representative for many years while living on Staten Island.
Mrs. Koetas' was fluent in the Polish language. Her grandchildren were a source of great joy for her, and she also enjoyed socializing with her friends each Friday at the beauty parlor. She also appreciated the beauty of flowers and enjoyed arts and crafts.
She was a devoted 58-year parishioner of St. Rita's R.C. Church, Meiers Corners.
Her husband of 62 years, Joseph L., died in 2011.
She is survived by her sons, Joseph and William; her daughter, Joanne Pillay; her sister, Joan Guinther, and seven grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday, from the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners, with a mass at 11 a.m. in St. Rita's Church, Meiers Corners. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, West Brighton.
