Opal (Eldreth) Hogan, 92, of Belmont, went home to her eternal reward peacefully on Sunday, October 4, 2020. Opal was a faithful Christian and a member of Faith Baptist Church in Iron Station. She was devoted to her family and to her work. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
Opal is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Thomas M. Hogan, who passed away in 1999. She is the daughter of the late Frankie (Ham) and Oscar J. Eldreth. One grandchild and her sisters, Ruth Hall, Sue Blevins and Helen Osborn and brother Worth Elderth also precede her in death.
Left behind to cherish their memories of Opal are her daughters, Vickie Lail and husband Steve of Gastonia and Lisa Wright and husband Allen of Bessemer City and sons, Tommy Hogan and wife Marilu of Stanley, Ronnie Hogan and wife Missy of Belmont and Bobby Hogan and wife Lisa of Walkertown, NC. Opal leaves behind nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren as well as her sisters Elsie Trivette and Mary Jordan both of West Jefferson, NC and her brother John Eldreth of Lansing, NC.
A celebration of Opal’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 7th, 2020 at Carothers Funeral Home Chapel, 412 South Main Street, Stanley NC. The family will receive friends before the service beginning at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Gardens in Mt. Holly. Pastor Mike Scott, of Faith Baptist Church, will offer words of encouragement and hope to those that gather to remember Opal.
