Her funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Alexis Baptist Church, Alexis, NC with Pastor Scott Jenkins officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30am until 12:45pm prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Kathy was born on June 11, 1960, in Catawba County. She was preceded in death by her father, Jimmie Ikerd. She is survived by her mother, Margaret S. Ikerd; son, Andrew Nantz of Dallas, NC; daughter, Hannah Richardson (Neal) of Iron Station, NC; sister, Rebecca Dycus (Mike) of Denver, NC; and two grandchildren, Savannah and Robert Richardson of Iron Station, NC.
Kathy was a 39-year veteran of Lincoln and Gaston County school systems. She dedicated her career to helping exceptional children. She served faithfully in the Children’s Ministry at Alexis Baptist Church, including Mission Friends, Children’s Church, and Vacation Bible School. She was also an Adult Sunday School Teacher.
She loved spending time outdoors gardening, feeding her birds, and playing with her grandchildren. Her love of knitting was shared with family and friends. Most of all, she loves her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; and as she so eloquently put it while in the Intensive Care Unit: “My body may be falling apart, but spiritually I am in check and my faith is STRONG!”
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Children’s Ministry at Alexis Baptist Church, P.O. Box 39, Alexis, NC 28006.
Fond memories of Kathy and condolences for the family may be left at www.carothersfuneralhomestanley.com.
