Charles William Deason, 72, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 13, 2015 with his son by his side, as requested. He was born November 19, 1943 in Gaston County to the late James Richard Deason and Susie Taylor Deason. Charles will always be remembered by his family as an avid hunter. He loved to raise Beagles for hunting and train German Shepherds for the police. He was also proud to serve his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Charles is survived by one son, Chad Deason of Stanley; two brothers and five sisters, James Richard Deason, Luther Farris Deason, Janice Lemmond, Hazel Leigh Deason, Charmen Riley, Margaret Ella Hayes and Wanda Sue Spencer; one adopted brother, Frank Deason; one granddaughter, Holly Lee Anne Deason; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Katie Louise Deason and Peggy Jean McIntosh.
A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lincolnton at 1:00 PM. Pastor Steven P. King will preside. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Gardens in Mt. Holly, NC with military honors.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, December 16 at Carothers Funeral Home in Stanley.
